New Delhi: The last session of Parliament, which would begin
on February 12, would be a truncated affair as it is being convened primarily
to pass a vote-on-account to meet the financial exigencies till the new government
takes over.
The fortnight-long session would begin with the President's address to a joint
sitting of both the Houses. It would conclude on February 26, subject to the
exigencies of government business. PM discharged from AIIMS
The vote-on-account would have to be passed during this session as a government,
on its way out, cannot pass a full-fledged budget.
Both the Houses would discuss and adopt the motion of thanks to the President
for her address. The government also plans to bring in some bills to replace
about three ordinances.
The session is also likely to take up certain bills pending in the Lok Sabha
and the Rajya Sabha, besides private members business.
